2 out of 5 stars U turns on the motorway followed by abandoning the driver.   January 5, 2009
Andy VV (UK)
I had this product as an early gift for Christmas. Despite initial promise in my local area it placed me in quite a bit of trouble with my partner while travelling down to Padstow from the Midlands.

On a key junction the voice guidance failed to prompt the turning till after we'd passed the junction. Then it got confused and recommended a u-turn in the middle of the motorway.

After finally getting somewhere using road signs the thing kept loosing satellite coverage (possibly understandable in Cornwall) but to my horror the device froze then went to a white screen which then refused to be reset by any means!

The device was faulty but this is a fairly major problem I'd hate to have happen again with a satnav.

So from experience I'd say save up and go for a more expensive well known brand of satnav.

4 out of 5 stars Very Good Value Sat Nav.   December 14, 2008

If you expect this little device to drive the car for you whilst you sit back with your feet up ... then you are looking at the wrong product! However if you use this device as an additional aid whilst driving and use your common sense as well you will find this Sat Nav hard to beat at this price. It can quickly re-route you to get you back on track and provides you with all of the information you will need to get you from A to B. It doesn't come with all of the additional features of a far more expensive device and it can only use the software and maps that are on the device, but it still does the same job and it does it well. It comes with all of the extras you will need to mount it and power it up in your car. In summary this is a great little Sat Nav for the price, but don't expect it to be the same as an expensive Tom Tom.

5 out of 5 stars Excellent Sat Nav and Service   November 26, 2008

I never like to put a review or feedback straight away. After all you cant do so without fully testing and enjoying the product. I would advice all buyers should do the same. Looking good as not the same as being good or fit for purpose.

Brought this product thinking and not expecting much. In the very past Binatone left a lot to be desired in their products.

Got to say I was impressed. Put in the Postcode and it gets you there. Otherwise you can put in the street and area. If you take a division it gets back on track. Picks up the speed cameras. Points of interests are there if needed and have used.

I have used Tom Toms and others just to compare. Ok they have other features but do you really need them. Them of course you also paid more for them, and lost money because they come down in price.

So why have I give this 5 star. Well it is simple to use. Cost and quality combined. Slim, easy to carry - use in car or on foot. It gets one from A to B and has points of interest. Oh nearly forgot and speed cameras (alert) too.

What more would you want? Price wise excellent product.

4 out of 5 stars Binatone Carrera X350   November 5, 2008

I bought this satnav because I was so afraid of getting lost, a woman driver on her own, and only being able to afford the basic, so I went for this one, Easy to use, basic but definate directions, very easy to follow, just put in your postcode or address or poi and off you go, very easy and striaghtforward, got me to my destination with no hassel whatsoever. If you dont want lots of frills and pretty pictures to confuse things go fo this. It well worth the money and easy to store, carry around use for cycling, walking too, has all these features, I didn't need anything else. great value.

4 out of 5 stars Good value for being a budget sat nav   October 24, 2008

I bought this a couple of months ago when it was sub- 50. Have tried it out on short, local journeys as well as longer, unknown routes and I have to say I'm very impressed. The screen is very clear and easy to read. I like the fact that if you are zoomed out quite a distance, the system automatically zooms in when a change of route is imminent, e.g. exiting from roundabouts, turning on to different roads, so that there is no doubt as to which way you go. Found it very easy to programme in a route - the menu system is fairly intuitive esp. if you've not used sat nav before. OK so it doesn't have the bells and whistles of more expensive models such as the ability to store pictures or mp3 files (can't think why you'd want to IMHO) but if you're after an entry level inexpensive sat nav then I don't think you can go far wrong with the X350. I would say don't bother with the accessory pack as the X350 is bundled with a car mount kit which is far superior to the one in the accessory pack and also a power lead for plugging into a cigarette lighter socket. The best thing in the accessory pack is the protective case and quite frankly you could just buy a generic one on its own much cheaper.
