Product Description TomTom is back with a new and improved version of its popular Go 730 - the GPS Go 740 Live. This revolutionary "Live" version, which features HD Traffic technology, is set to bring a whole new dimension to in-car navigation. HD Traffic allows you to receive the most up-to-date traffic information directly on your TomTom GPS. This information includes detailed reports of accidents, estimated delay times, alternative itinerary suggestions and even fuel prices - so you can find the cheapest petrol in the area. The Go 740 has a built-in SIM card that can be linked up to local telephone networks to bring you road and traffic information updates in real time. It also gives you full access to TomTom IQ Routes technology, local searches via Google, the text-to-speech function and enhanced points of interest, as well as HD Traffic technology. The TomTom Go 740 Live now also has a weather information service with local 5-day forecasts, and there's a new TomTom Friends function, which you can use to find other TomTom users on the map and share all your favourite places and points of interest. You can even send other users free messages! The new, easy-to-use Go 740 Live GPS also has a Bluetooth function and a voice recognition program, as well as a MapShare function, which allows you to modify maps yourself. You can change street names, traffic flow directions and other information, which you can then send to the whole TomTom community when you hook up your GPS to a computer. This means that each TomTom user can receive user-modified updates. The TomTom Go 740 Live GPS will take you exactly where you need to go in the quickest, safest way possible. Internal menu languages: German, English, Catalan, Danish, Spanish, Estonian, Finnish, Flemish, French, Hungarian, Italian, Latvian, Lithuanian, Dutch, Norwegian, Polish, Portuguese, Slovakian, Czech and Turkish

Amazon recommended SD cardNovember 27, 2008 Mr. Jf Cubberley(BROMLEY, KENT) 23 out of 24 found this review helpful
Having just purchased a new Tom Tom GO 740 LIVE, which is superb, probably the best one yet, I must say --------- !!BEWARE!! When purchasing a SD card for your Tom Tom GO LIVE series satnav. These use a MICRO SD card, NOT a standard SD card, which is too big and will not fit. I purchased a standard card as this seemed to be the one recommended by amazon. A wast of 12.49 JOHN C.
Very impressed and don't believe everything you read!November 23, 2008 ML(Dorking) 37 out of 37 found this review helpful
I've had the 740 for a week and have been really impressed. It does everything you would expect plus a little more. One reviewer on here has a few fundamental facts wrong, so I thought I'd correct them. The 740 connected seamlessly with my mac (I can even connect my iPhone 3G via bluetooth which surprised me!) also the LIVE services are not 7.99 each but a flat fee for all the services "...users can register for a monthly, flat-fee subscription of 7.99 with no hidden costs, so they can continue to receive all LIVE Services directly to their device". I used the cheapest petrol facility yesterday and via a very minor detour (1-2 mins) I found petrol that was 5p per litre cheaper saving me 2.50 on a fill up! The voice activated search works really well and means you can concentrate on the road. I've already used the Google search facility a few times and it came up with the goods (including giving details of the search and a phone number). The HD traffic works although not entirely accurate (having said that it has already saved me time). Overall Superb and would highly recommend.
TomTom Go x40 - SImply the Best..... by FAR!November 14, 2008 Mr. Steven Johnson(Plymouth, UK.) 27 out of 30 found this review helpful
I bought the TomTom Go 940 LIVE as I need USA maps for next year, I was considering the 930T (as my wife already has the 530T) but I am so glad that I paid that little extra and treated myself to this new range. It is Simply Ouststanding and I can't fault it yet (apart from the higher price obviously!!)
I have owned and used several TomTom's over the years and am so very impressed with this new design from the simple stuff like higher Volume, easy to use MP3 player with FM Transmitter (so I can have all my tunes now on this instead of the Ipod I used to leave in the car!), to the fast GPS lock so I am not waiting for ages to start driving!
However my favourite is the NEW style Dash/Window Mount which is Rock soilid and the BEST part of it is that it is now a docking station instead of a bracket, this makes everyday use so much better and easier.
I have used the new Google LIVE search a few times already and it not only finds what you are looking for but gave me addresses and phone numbers too, awesome!
I wish I could afford to replace my wife's 530T with the new 540 as I am so impressed but perhaps after Christmas!!
