Brilliant final resultJanuary 9, 2009 K. Wilkins My husband bought these for me for christmas, and they are great, however, I do find that I have to go over the same piece of hair more than once though, but once it's got it smooth, it's the smoothest it's ever been than with any other straightener I've used, so I am pleased, and once straightened, I've found it very simple to curl my hair, so am doubly pleased about that as the curls are perfect! However, I have a slight niggle in that when I turned them on the other day, they didn't stop beeping, and therefore wouldn't heat up! I turned them off, and tried again, and still they just beeped continually. I turned them off then again and also unplugged them and left them a minute or so, and they were back to normal when I turned them on again fortunately. It did have me worried though, and I am still aprehensive about their longevity, but so long as my husband still has the receipt, then I'm not too concerned as I believe the guarantee is for two years! Hopefully it was just a minor blip. I'm keeping my old ones just as back up though....
Worth every penny!December 29, 2008 Big Bertha(UK) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
My previous GHDs were nearly five years old when they went bang and I had to seriously ask myself if I could justify spending the money on a new pair. I wrongly decided that I couldn't and bought another pair of cheaper (though highly rated) straighteners.
It was a mistake, yes they work, yes they do the job - but they take twice the effort and time that my GHDs did.
I've recently bought another pair of GHDs and wish I'd done it before. Silky, sleek and shiny hair with very little effort - worth every penny!

I too fell in love with GHD's but soon realised they are extremley overated and expensive. I bought my GHD's and they only lasted me 2 years (I only used them once a week to prevent damage to my hair), turns out there was a common fault with them and they had been fined by trading standards due to saftey hazards.
As you can see from GHD's very large marketing budget, that they are a definite rip off, i admit they were the first to bring out ceramics however now the competition is wide open. Dont be fooled into buying these expensive straightners, I have terribly long and frizzy hair and Vidal Sassons nano ceramics work better than the GHDs ever did. The narrow GHD plates where useless for my hairs thickness and the thicker straightners cost a fortune. Majority of the straightners on the market are excellent for a fraction of the price of GHD's.

Just the best straighteners out there, honestly if you use them for like 2 days you'll wonder how you ever went without them. Believe the hype!
Life Saver to a Black sister.October 13, 2008 Loulou(London, UK) 9 out of 9 found this review helpful
As a black woman its often dificult to find products made for our hair type we usually have to go with the "general" products which don't really do us any justice. After purchasing almost 50 different straigteners just so that I could get good results and have decent looking hair I step out again and I bought this product thinking "there I go again purchasing a product that will give me mediocure service" however I am pleased to say that I shall never purchase another type of straigthener again. I wash my hair (and sisters you know how that goes sometimes) moisturize, blow dry and then sit with my miracle worker straightening peice by peice and when I am done its like I just stepped out of a saloon. lite, bouncy and straight I mean it does the job! no joke here!. even after going out in the humidity or damp weather the hair is still working it! I am singing the praises of GHD everywhere I go. its a bit pricy but its worth it!!! I would not waste my time to put this review here if it wasn't trust me its GOOD!!.
