Product Description Glo-LanternTM authentic Thai Fire Sky Lanterns are manufactured by us in our factory in the Far East, These traditional 'Khoom Fay' or 'Khom Loy' lanterns were invented 1800 years ago by Zhuge Liang (181- 234AD China), they are a great addition or alternative to fireworks and create an amazing view when launched in multiples, especially at night. Ideal for wedding, birthday, bbq a party or any other gathering Unlike home-made 'bin-liner' and tape versions our lanterns arrive FULLY ASSEMBLED and ready to light and launch, our lanterns are fuelled by a wax paper wick, this is odour free and clean burning and removes the need for dangerous liquid fuel that other lanterns use (we do not believe that selling a bag of highly flammable fuel for the end user to soak a wick in is safe) ** Fully Biodegradable ** Our Lanterns are authentic Chinese Paper Lanterns as used for at least 1800 years worldwide
Better than fire worksJanuary 8, 2009 J. E. Bray(Conwy N Wales) I bought these for our New Year's eve celebrations instead of fireworks. I am so glad I did. They are such fun to watch as they float up into the night sky, we watched them until they were just specks of light, goodness only knows how high they go.
I can't wait for the next celebration so I have an excuse to have them again.
Highly recommended.
Fully Biodegradable?January 4, 2009 FadeToGrey I bought a box of these for New Years Eve; being reassured by the claim that they are fully biodegradable. Whilst I have no reason to doubt that the paper lanterns themselves are, I would question the wires that hold the wick in place, and the wick itself. They are easy enough to use, though supervision would definately be recommended for children, and to send them up in a populated area could possibly prove foolish indeed, especially in windy conditions! Having said that, if used sensibly, and the environmental concerns don't matter too much for you, as they did for me, then these are a very beautiful and impressive alternative to fireworks.
Freakin awesomeJanuary 3, 2009 Mr. A. L. Conlin Great product. They look totally sweet. We let a whole bunch of on christmas eve. They go up bloody high ! Way better value then fireworks. Ours must have gone up at least a mile and travelled about 5-6 miles. Best to do on a clear, cold evening with no wind. BUY THEM NOW!!
Poor packing ruined the product.December 7, 2008 K. Roy 2 out of 5 found this review helpful
The item no packaging around apart from the original box. This box very battered when it reached me and was ruined by the delivery stickers and Royal Mail stickers. I wanted to give the lanterns to a friend but the whole box is covered in marks and scratches where the stickers were. Please be aware of this when ordering. I can't comment on the product inside as I have not used it yet.

These lanterns are fabulous- we use them to remember my brother who died, and we write messages on the lantern on his birthday or anniversary, and then watch them float off into the night sky. It's a really positive thing to do to remember someone, and makes a hard day a lot easier. Definitely dont use in a built up area, as they do go up very fast and you cant control where they go, and dont use in windy conditions. Otherwise they are brilliant!
